• Safety is our highest priority when preparing sandbags. Majority of the volunteer teams have never prepared sandbags before. Each shift will have a safety breifing before any work begins. A few things to keep in mind before you arrive:

1. Wardrobe Matters: We will have each volunteer wear a SERVE 6.8 t-shirt. Please have closed toed shoes, long pants, water and a snack. We will provide hard hats, work gloves, safety glasses, safety vests, and necessary materials.
2. Safety Monitor: Because there will be heavy machinery operating near the sandbag work zone, there will be a clear safety monitor who will specifically monitor no walk zones, machine malfunctions, etc. Please do not try to solve problems without the help of a team lead or safety monitor.
3. Age & Ability: Children under the age of 14 are unable to help with this activity. If you are unable to lift or spend 3-4 hours outside, this might not be the best acitvity for you.
4. COVID: We will follow the current Larimer County guidelines.
5. Liability Waiver: Each volunteer will be required to sign a statement of faith and liability waiver before serving.

When you arrive, here is what you can expect:

1. Safety Briefing - please do not be late. This safety briefing is very important so we must wait for each volunteer to arrive before we begin.
2. Breakout - there are many different roles to fill. There will be 4-6 team leaders on site for each sandbagging effort. Each volunteer team will be broken into different roles.
3. We will try to provide snacks and water, but please bring your own just in case!
4. This is hard work so we limit teams to 3-4 hours so they do not overwork themselves.

Nobody under the age of 14 is allowed to serve with the sandbag team. Teens between 14 and 16 must have a parent on site. Teens 16 to 18 may serve without a parent, but must have a parent signed liability waiver on their behalf before serving. You may print the waiver below and bring it with you to your shift.
